Accessed by either Route 95 or by the MBTA commuter rail, the town is often sought after by those who want the charm of the historic coastal town combined with a downtown area that offers shopping and entertainment. Due to a strong preservational society that assists with keeping the historic buildings, despite an economic downturn in the mid 1900’s, the city’s planning and perseverance prevailed and it has turned into a prime example of how cities should do the same.
