Essex Real Estate
The town of Essex is a small community and one of four towns that make up Cape Ann. It is located just 33 miles outside of the City of Boston. With a population of just over 3,600 this small town is the quintessential image of a New England village. The central part of Essex is situated on marsh land that surrounds the Essex River, which it receives its namesake. The town includes several protected areas including the Ally-Cox Reservation, a portion of Crane Wildlife Refuge, the Stavros Reservation and the state Wildlife Management Area. The Manchester Essex Regional High School, is ranked high in the state, and is attended by Essex students.
Other attractions within the town include the historic Essex Shipbuilding Museum and the Essex National Heritage area. One may also enjoy excursions down the Essex River in boats or self-guided kayak trips.
